Gene Loughran report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: AT 2024lxw
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 00:48:00.000 (12) DEC = +13:00:00.00 (13)
Discovery date: 2024-06-21 00:30:00.000 (JD=2460482.5208333)

Remarks: The AT type is Other because I only saw this for about 45 minutes. starting at 00:30 UTC (8:30PM EST) and around 01:15 UTC (9:15PM EST) on June 21st, 2024 (my actual June 20th, 2024.) It was static in the sky, point-like, and the only visible object in the sky at that time (~-1 in apparent magnitude). Normally only brightest planets would be visible.

Photometry

Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2024-06-21 00:30:00.000
Flux: -1.5 ABMag
Filter: Clear-
Instrument: Other
Telescope: Other

Remarks: Visual detection. My wife and I possibly witnessed a UAP event and thought it might be worth reporting. It was approximately in the area of Denebola/M87 around 20:30 - 21:15 EST visible from Ashburn Virginia. I have attached a cell phone picture of what it looked like. Before it faded it was the brightest and only object in the sky. Jupiter brightness.

Last non-detection:
Last non-detection date: 2024-06-20 00:00:00
Limiting flux: 3 ABMag
Filter: Clear-
Instrument: Other
Telescope: Other

Remarks: Approximate time preceding visual detection.
