UGC 339 nomenclature

The galaxy originally catalogued as UGC 339 is actually 2 galaxies in very close proximity.

The paper "Arcsecond positions of UGC galaxies," (bibcode 1999ApJS..125..409C) lists them as "a" and "b", with "a" as the galaxy to the west (RA 00 34 21.53 0.10), and "b" to the east (RA 00 34 22.27 0.10).  NED appears to list "a" as UGC 00339 NED01 and "b" as UGC 00339 NED02.

However, NED lists UGC 00339 NED01 ("a") as PGC 3099123, while SIMBAD lists "b" as PGC 3099123.  SIMBAD lists "a" as LEDA 2061, while NED lists LEDA/PGC 2061 as the galaxy pair (UGC 00339).  NED does not give a LEDA/PGC number to "b" (UGC 00339 NED02).

This transient, AT 2025ois, is very close the nucleus of the eastern galaxy: "UGC 339b" (UGC 00339 NED02).
