Starting in August 30, 2025 a clear brightening is observed in optical g and r bands, with significant amplitude and color change compared to past activity. The transient has reached at least absolute (difference) magnitude of -20.5, and is apparently still rising. 2025TNSTR3856....1L N

The outburst amplitude and color change, however, are more extreme than typical AGN variability, suggesting the possibility of a TDE flare occuring within the AGN. The spectrum taken during the outburst is dominated by strong Hα and Hβ emission while high-ionization lines ([O III], [N II]) are weak during the outburst. This places the host in the star-forming region of the BPT diagram, though this may be biased by the transient contribution to Balmer lines. The FWHM~900 km/s derived from the Hα component is narrower than expected for typical TDEs. We therefore cannot provide a secure classification of the transient, but the observations are consistent with either an extreme episode of AGN accretion or a TDE-like flare occurring within an AGN, so-called Ambiguous Nuclear Transient (ANT). 2025TNSCR3865....1L
