J. Karcheski, R. J. Foley, K. C. Patra (UCSC) report/s a classification of object: SN 2026wza
Type: SN IbRedshift: 0.02
Remarks: The best SNID-SAGE matches are to SN Ia and Ib templates near peak brightness at z ~ 0.02. Assuming that redshift and no host-galaxy extinction, the current absolute magnitude (M_clear = -16.3 mag and not rising quickly; Kono et al. 2026, TNS AT Report 320187) is more consistent with that of a SN Ib than a SN Ia.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2026-08-14 00:00:00
Instrument: KCWI
Telescope: Keck II 10m
