The object is also visible at the same location with the same telescope at 21h25 UTC (Image available here : https://www.flickr.com/photos/econseil/45618427635 ) and with Slooh robotic UWF telescope (Apochromatic Televue refractor T2, 85mm F/7, focal reducer 0.8x, SBIG ST-10XME) at 20h30 UTC and 21h25 UTC. There was nothing at this location on images taken on 2018-12-28 at 21h15 UTC with the same telescope. There's no known object at this location in TOCP, TNS, AstronomersTelegrams and SIMBAD. No known asteroid either at this location. The object is very close to the location of previous nova M31N 2009-09a, and could be a new outburst of this transient.2018TNSTR2005....1C

The nova is also visible on another R-filter image taken by the same instrument (2023 Sept. 29.71266, mag = 16.1 R), but nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on 2023 Sept. 28.69936 UT (limiting mag 20.5 V) and 2023 Sept. 28.70671 UT (limiting mag 20.5 R).

Castellani, Verona, Italy reports the discovery by Raffaele Belligoli, Flavio Castellani and Claudio Marangoni, in the course of the ISSP Italian Supernovae Search Project, of an apparent nova in two images taken with a Moravian G4-9000 KAF CCD unfiltered, from Monte Baldo Observatory (Ferrara di Monte Baldo, Verona, Italy), with the 0.4m f.8 Ritchey-Chrétien telescope, obtained on 2018 October 13.822 and 13.845 UT. The new object is located at RA 00 42 40.12 DEC +41 17 27.3 (equinox 2000.0) Apparent magnitude about 17.5 in host Galaxy M31. Nothing is visible at this position on the reference image of 19Th september 2018. Offset '43.7W 81.3N' from the center of M31 (see link to discovery image below). The discovery magnitude is 17.5±0.04 mag in the CV band (clear visual). We will continue to monitor the nova light curve and strongly encourage additional follow-up observations.
