Based on our imaging with the Nordic Optical Telescope, the source appears to be a new supernova with a small ~1 arcsec projected offset to that of the explosion site of SN2019lqo. 2024TNSTR1159....1K N

Stritzinger (Aarhus) NUTS2 SN IIb 0.0103 1 NUTS2 On behalf of the NUTS2 collaboration, we report the optical classification spectrum of SN 2024gzk in Arp 299, which reveals it to be a type IIb SN near maximum light with a best match to SN1997dd based on comparison with template supernova spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). This is the 8th Type IIb / Ib SN within the ~2 kpc central regions of this luminous infrared galaxy, which is in line with a previous expectation that these core-collapse SN subtypes are preferred in those environments of Arp 299 (Kankare et al. 2021, A&A, 649, A134). 2024TNSCR1169....1K
