15408 2023-08-17 17:11:12 Megan Newsome Megan Newsome (LCO/UCSB), Craig Pellegrino, Joseph Farah, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Estefania Padilla Gonzalez, Giacomo Terreran Global SN Project SN II 0.0136 1 Global SN Project Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to SNe II near peak. There are good fits to SN 2005cs (SN IIP) and SN 2004et (SN IIP) within 5 days of maximum light. The supernova is closest to UGC 09002 (z = 0.0136, 2006HIPAS.C...0000; value from NED). This redshift is well-matched by narrow host hydrogen. Assuming this redshift, we measure a hydrogen velocity of about 12,000 km/s from Hα. The g-band absolute magnitude roughly coeval with the spectrum is approximately -16.65 (apparent magnitude 17.23). The absolute magnitude, high velocities, and blue continuum indicate that the SN is young. Further followup is encouraged. 2023TNSCR1999....1N
