Sylvia Beer report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.
IAU Designation: AT 2001la
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 11:14:27.073 (168.612806) DEC = +04:04:54.38 (4.081772)
Discovery date: 2001-04-16 03:05:48.000 (JD=2452015.6290278)
Potential host galaxy: CGCG 039-085
Host redshift: 0.038305
Remarks: This transient was first observed by Sylvia Beer on the Galaxy Zoo website here: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/zookeeper/galaxy-zoo/talk/subjects/34357887. Ine Theunissen also took part in the discussion. In SDSS the transient is marked as TYPE=STAR but is not visible in later surveys.
Photometry
Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2001-04-16 03:05:48.000
Flux: 20.72 ABMag
Filter: r-Sloan
Instrument: SDSS-Spec
Telescope: Sloan Digital Sky Survey
Remarks: The r-band Apparent magnitude was calculated by Richard Nowell using APT and reference star: SDSS J111427.84+040451.1 http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr14/en/tools/explore/Summary.aspx?id=1237655124465418305. The r-band Absolute magnitude of -15.4 was also calculated.
