TNS Classification Report No. 2572 [ 2018TNSCR1220....1T ]
Date Received (UTC): 2018-08-20 19:33:13 Sender: Mr. Michael Tucker
Group: SCAT
Michael A. Tucker, Benjamin J. Shappee (IfA, UH Manoa), Tom Holoien, Mark Seibert, Barry Madore, Jeff Rich (Carnegie) report/s a classification of object: SN 2018epq
Type: SN IIRedshift: 0.027
Remarks: Type II SN near maximum light (SNID: phase = 1.0 +/- 15.6, redshift = 0.027 +/- 0.005). No quality fits to any sub-type, clearly a Type II but P-Cyg profiles not as apparent as the templates, could be a result of high host galaxy contamination.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2018-08-10 21:49:45
Instrument: WFCCD
Telescope: Las Campanas Observatory du Pont telescope
Details of the object and its spectra can be viewed here: https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2018epq
