TNS Classification Report No. 2899 [ 2018TNSCR1585....1P ]
Date Received (UTC): 2018-10-15 22:52:09 Sender: Simon Prentice
Group: None
S. J. Prentice (QUB) report/s a classification of object: SN 2018hfu
Type: SN Ia-pecRedshift: 0.06
Remarks: The spectrum matches several SNe Ia of varying types around maximum light. Using SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), good matches can be found to 2000cx at z=0.054 and 91T-like SN 1999aa at z=0.066. The given redshift of 0.06 is an average between the two and the classification as SN Ia-pec reflects that the two best templates are not normal SNe Ia.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2018-10-15 22:17:51
Instrument: SPRAT
Telescope: Liverpool Telescope
