Daichi Hiramatsu, Iair Arcavi, Jamison Burke, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano Valenti report/s a classification of object: SN 2018jky
Type: SN IaRedshift: 0.01458
Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find good fits to several young Type Ia supernovae at the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.01458; 1992CORV..C...0000F, via NED). The absolute B-band magnitude taken at 2018-12-06 05:39:08 is -16.7. We measure a Si II 6355 velocity of -15,000 km/s and a Ca II NIR triplet velocity of -23,000 km/s. The absolute magnitude and the broad features suggest this maybe as early as ~2 weeks before maximum.
