Ine Theunissen-Limpens report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.
IAU Designation: AT 2018ltd
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 00:44:44.832 (11.1868) DEC = +32:50:40.92 (32.8447)
Discovery date: 2018-10-02 03:58:32.000 (JD=2458393.6656481)
Potential host galaxy: SDSS J004444.43+325040.7
Host redshift: 0.0513
Remarks: This transient was first discovered by Ine Theunissen while exploring data from the old Galaxy Zoo website here: https://talk.galaxyzoo.org/#/subjects/AGZ000cvak. Richard Nowell also took part in the discussion started by Ine Theunissen on the Galaxy Zoo website here: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/zookeeper/galaxy-zoo/talk/1269/1203627.
Photometry
Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2018-10-02 03:58:32.000
Flux: 21.24 ABMag
Filter: R-Cousins
Instrument: DECAM
Telescope: CTIO - 4-m Victor M. Blanco Telescope
Remarks: The r-band Apparent magnitude was calculated by Richard Nowell and Ine Theunissen using APT and reference star: SDSS J004443.63+325205.3 http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr14/en/tools/explore/Summary.aspx?id=1237680311770218715. We took Richard's estimate to report. The r-band Absolute magnitude of -15.41 was also calculated.
Last non-detection:
