TNS Classification Report No. 7642 [ 2020TNSCR3108....1T ]
Date Received (UTC): 2020-10-13 22:32:06 Sender: Michael Tucker
Group: SCAT
M A Tucker (IfA, UH Manoa) on behalf of the SCAT team report/s a classification of object: SN 2020tef
Type: SN IRedshift: 0.05
Remarks: Likely SN Ia a few weeks after maximum light. Cross-correlation with a template library via SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007) returns several matches to SNe Ia. However, without confirmation from the SiII6355A feature, post-maximum SN Ibc templates also qualitatively match the spectrum with lower quality results.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2020-10-11 14:18:14
Instrument: SNIFS
Telescope: UH 88inch
Remarks: Reduced with a summit-based quick-reduction pipeline, only blue channel available
Details of the object and its spectra can be viewed here: https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2020tef
