TNS Classification Report No. 7625 [ 2020TNSCR3079....1T ]
Date Received (UTC): 2020-10-10 01:47:50 Sender: Michael Tucker
Group: SCAT
M A Tucker (IfA, UH Manoa) on behalf of the SCAT team report/s a classification of object: SN 2020vdm
Type: SN IaRedshift: 0.06
Remarks: Likely a normal Type Ia SN a few days before maximum light. A few post-maximum SN Ib-norm templates also produce acceptable fits to the spectrum but lack a prominent absorption feature at ~5000A so we consider the pre-maximum SN Ia-norm classification more likely. Redshift, SN type, and age estimated via template cross-correlation with SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007).
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2020-10-09 13:38:30
Instrument: SNIFS
Telescope: UH 88inch
Remarks: Reduced with a summit-based quick-reduction pipeline, only blue channel available
Details of the object and its spectra can be viewed here: https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2020vdm
