Megan Newsome (UCSB/Las Cumbres), Yael Dgany (TAU), Iair Arcavi (TAU), Jamison Burke (LCO/UCSB), Daichi Hiramatsu (LCO/UCSB), D. Andrew Howell (LCO/UCSB), Curtis McCully (LCO/UCSB), Estefania Padilla Gonzalez (LCO/UCSB), Craig Pellegrino (LCO/UCSB) report/s a classification of object: SN 2021abmy
Type: SN IaRedshift: 0.028
Remarks: Using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to SNe Ia before maximum light, including SN 1994d 5 days before peak. The supernova is closest to WISEA J234030.19+125554.1. SNID finds a redshift of z = 0.028 this redshift we measure a Si II 6355 velocity of approximately 11,000 km/s. Adopting the distance modulus computed from this redshift (35.4), the g-band absolute magnitude of the object roughly coeval with the spectrum is -17.3 (apparent magnitude 18.06 from ZTF). This absolute magnitude and velocity is consistent with an SN Ia before maximum light.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
