TNS Classification Report No. 9121 [ 2021TNSCR.732....1H ]
Date Received (UTC): 2021-03-08 19:12:45 Sender: Erica Hammerstein
Group: ZTF
Erica Hammerstein, Suvi Gezari, Sjoert van Velzen, Shri Kulkarni, Brad Cenko, Yuhan Yao, on behalf of the ZTF collaboration report/s a classification of object: TDE 2021ack
Type: TDERedshift: 0.133
Remarks: We report the classification of the optical transient ZTF20acyydkh/AT2021ack (RA=13:53:09.99 Dec=+09:44:25.35) as a tidal disruption event (TDE) due to its persistent blue optical colors and follow-up spectrum. ZTF20acyydkh/AT2021ack was first reported to TNS as ATLAS21blz on 2021 Jan 12 but was first detected in the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) MSIP Northern Sky Survey on 2020 Dec 20 at a magnitude of g ~ 20.2. The transient is now post-peak with persistent blue optical color (g-r ~ -0.87 mag). A spectrum with the Lowell Discovery Telescope DeVeny Spectrograph was taken on 2021 Feb 17. This follow-up spectrum displayed a blue continuum with broad Hα, He II λ4686, and N III λ4640. We place the transient and its host galaxy at a redshift of z = 0.133 from host stellar absorption lines.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
