Christa DeCoursey, on behalf of JADES report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.
IAU Designation: AT 2022aeiz
Discoverer internal name: jades-gs-2022h
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 03:32:24.465 (53.101937) DEC = -27:51:54.24 (-27.865067)
Discovery date: 2022-10-07 00:00:00.000 (JD=2459859.5)
Potential host galaxy: EIS J033224.42-275154.2
Host redshift: 0.672
Remarks: We report the detection of a transient in the GOODS-S field, observed by JWST NIRCam on October 7th, 2022. The candidate does not appear in the GOODS-S HST mosaic images (v2.0) distributed by the Hubble Legacy Fields (HLF) project (https://archive.stsci.edu/prepds/hlf), confirming its transient nature. The transient lies at RA 03:32:24.465, DEC -27:51:54.24, and its host galaxy is EIS J033224.42-275154.2 (z_spec = 0.672), as reported in the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database. We performed aperture photometry on the transient and measured the following AB magnitudes: F090W = 27.15 ± 0.27, F115W = 26.66 ± 0.22, F150W = 26.34 ± 0.21, F200W = 26.03 ± 0.23, F277W = 25.98 ± 0.25, F356W = 26.24 ± 0.23, F410M = 26.37 ± 0.20, and F444W = 26.40 ± 0.21.
