Craig Pellegrino (UCSB/LCO), Yael Dgany (TAU), Iair Arcavi, Jamison Burke (UCSB/LCO), D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Megan Newsome, Estefania Padilla Gonzalez, Giacomo Terreran report/s a classification of object: SN 2022cob
Type: SN Ic-BLRedshift: 0.0445
Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) we find possible fits to SNe Ic-BL around maximum light, although we cannot rule out a SN Ia classification. The spectrum shows broad Ca II and Si II absorption features. We find a redshift of z=0.0445 from the hydrogen lines in the spectrum. Assuming this redshift, we measure a Si II velocity of 20,000 km/s. The ZTF g-band magnitude roughly coeval with the spectrum is 19.1 (-17.2).
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
