Type: SN Ia
Redshift: 0.03373

Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to SNe Ia before maximum light, including SN 2003du 11 days before peak. The supernova is closest to UGC 09953 (z = 0.03373, 2016SDSSD.C...0000:, value from NED). Adopting this redshift we measure a Si II 6355 velocity of approximately 13,000 km/s. This line and velocity velocity is consistent with an SN Ia approaching maximum light.
