Sebastian Gomez (STScI), Daichi Hiramatsu (Harvard CfA), Edo Berger (Harvard CfA), Peter Blanchard (Northwestern), Suvi Gezari (STScI) report/s a classification of object: TDE 2023kvy
Type: TDERedshift: 0.16
Remarks: The nuclear transient 2023kvy was selected as a possible TDE by our FLEET program with a P(TDE) = 0.68 (Gomez et al., 2023, ApJ, 949, 113). The redshift of z = 0.160 was determined from the approximate center of the H-alpha line, which is unfortunately affected by a telluric line. We classify this as a TDE due to the flat temperature evolution of the light curve, broad H-alpha, and peak absolute magnitude of r ~ -20 mag.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2023-08-27 00:00:00
Instrument: Goodman
Telescope: Southern Astrophysical Research Telescope
