Wainscoat (IfA) report/s a classification of object: SN 2023lya

Type: SN Ibn
Redshift: 0.03

Remarks: The spectrum reveals a blue continuum and narrow emission features identified as HeII 4686 and HeII 6560 and/or H-alpha, consistent with a redshift of z ~ 0.03. The combined photometry (see Astronote #2023-191 for details) indicates a fast-rising blue transient with a peak absolute mag Mg ~ -18.5 at this redshift. Together with the spectrum, we favour an Ibn classification.

The following Classification spectrum was provided:

Obsdate: 2023-06-30 09:12:52
Instrument: SNIFS
Telescope: UH 88inch

Remarks: The spectrum was obtained using the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter Telescope (UH88) and reduced using the integrated reduction pipeline.
