TNS Classification Report No. 15427 [ 2023TNSCR2017....1P ]
Date Received (UTC): 2023-08-18 11:33:32 Sender: Daniel Perley
Group: ZTF
Daniel Perley (LJMU), Anna Ho (Cornell), Igor Andreoni (Maryland/GSFC), Michael Coughlin (Minnesota) report/s a classification of object: AT 2023prq
Type: Nova
Remarks: The spectrum shows strong H-alpha and H-beta emission lines at z~0. The maximum velocity of the H-alpha feature is 6000 km/s, consistent with early spectra of novae. The luminosity is consistent with an origin in the M31 system, although the offset from the M31 nucleus is very large (46 kpc in projection).
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2023-08-18 04:34:23
Instrument: SPRAT
Telescope: Liverpool Telescope
