Burns (Carnegie) NUTS2 SN Ia 0.015 1 NUTS2, POISE The NUTS2 and POISE collaborations report the spectroscopic observation of supernova 2023wuk located in the galaxy NGC 7253B, and discovered by ZTF on 2023 November 06.1 UT (https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2023wuk/discovery-cert). At discovery, the transient’s magnitude was 19 in r band (ABmag), while the most recent POISE collaboration template subtracted r-band image of the transient obtained on 2023 November 08.0 UT with the Swope telescope reveals an apparent magnitude of 18.2. NUTS2 obtained a spectrum with the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) equipped with ALFOSC on 2023 November 07.9 UT. The spectrum is characterized by a red continuum suggesting significant host reddening. Indeed, prevalent Na ID absorption at the redshift (z=0.015) of the host galaxy suggest an E(B-V) color excess of 0.9 mag. Cross correlation with a library of template spectrum using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) provides matches with the spectra of a number of pre-maximum type Ia supernovae.
