Type: SN IIRedshift: 0.002979
Remarks: We classify SN 2024abfl as a Type II SN based on a spectrum from HCT/HFOSC using Gr7 and Gr8. We get best matches using GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008) with SN 1999gi, 3.8 days since the explosion. The spectrum reveals Halpha with a FWHM of around 6000 km/s and a hint of Hbeta + HeII complex at around 4500 Angstroms. Further follow-up is encouraged.
