J. Gillanders (Oxford), M. Huber (IfA, University of Hawaii), M. Fulton (QUB), S. Smartt (Oxford/QUB) report/s a classification of object: SN 2024adec

Type: SN IIb
Redshift: 0.035

Remarks: Spectrum obtained on 2024-12-07 by Gemini-N GMOS-N shows clear evidence of AT2024adec being a SN IIb. We obtain a number of matches (with the SNID software; Blondin & Tonry 2007) to other pre-peak SNe IIb spectra at redshifts between ~0.03-0.04. The early, rapid lightcurve evolution is likely the result of shock cooling. We estimate the redshift to be 0.035 from prominent, narrow host galaxy H-alpha emission.
