Jacob Wise (LJMU), Daniel Perley (LJMU), Yang Hu (OKC), Steve Schulze (Northwestern), Ragnhild Lunnan (OKC), Jesper Sollerman (OKC), Aleksandra Bochenek (LJMU), Zoe McGrath (LJMU), Yogesh Wagh (LJMU), K-Ryan Hinds (Caltech) report/s a classification of object: SN 2026fxs
Type: SN Ib-pecRedshift: 0.0535
Remarks: Spectrum is fit to a variety of SN Ia, Ib and Ic templates. However, the most convincing matches are to spectra from previously classified SN Ib and SLSN-Ib. Considering the event's ~45 day rise to peak, and peak absolute magnitude of M ~ -20, we classify it as a SN Ib-pec. Redshift of z = 0.0535 ± 0.0055 from template matches. Classification performed using Next Generation Superfit (NGSF; Goldwasser et al. 2022) and SNID-SAGE (Stoppa & Smartt 2026).
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
